Making in Latin: Roman Helmets

So we're learning about the Roman military right now in Latin III (we have done the Year of Four Emperors, the Marian Reforms, and some basic military stuff) and I wanted to do something hands-on.
I am a fan of task-driven learning; communicating in the target language to achieve a goal is a proven means of effective language acquisition. So, I created a helmet pattern (linked below), some simple instructions in Latin (linked below), printed the pattern on cardstock, and asked parents for donations of duct tape.
The results were fun and while there was a bit of a learning curve for some students, in general everyone got a chance to be successful.
I'll write a follow up post to describe what we used the helmets for!
